I was wondering if I had made an expensive mistake the first couple of days out. The mid height caused rubbing on my ankle bone and I couldn't wear them 2 days in a row. They are now 2 weeks old and I have worn them about 8 times. I feel no discomfort at all except for a little toe discomfort on a long steep decline. I slid my socks down to cushion the ankle bone and that seems to have solved that problem. Well it's Memorial Day and I've had to cancel a 14 mile hike today because of blisters from yesterday's hike in these boots. I just sent an email to Garmont telling them how displeased I am so far. What was I thinking?By Philly_saxI am not a mountain climber, but I do like items which do well what they are designed to do. This was an impulse buy in response to ice storms. I have a driveway with a decent grade so when the rain suddenly freezes overnight, the driveway is nearly impossible to traverse to get the paper, or put out the trash. If you do get to the top, the worse is yet to come because the only way to control your descent is to fall on your butt. I put these babies on and walked up the driveway like I had ice climbing spikes on the bottom!The tread is awesome. The boot is stiff and I suspect by design. I salted my sidewalk and chopped up the ice and the boots were warm and not uncomfortable.
